Playa Ventanas is a beautiful secluded beach close to Uvita and Ojochal in Costa Rica. It is inexpensive to visit with a minimal parking fee. The water is calmer than other nearby beaches which makes it a better beach for swimming. The beach is named for two “windows” or caves that have been carved into the mountains by the beach. During higher tide the water rushes through the caves and during low tide one can walk through the caves.

During our week long visit to Costa Rica we actually visited Playa Ventanas twice, once when the tide was going out and once when the tide was coming in. We were glad to experience both.
During our first visit we completely missed the turn to the beach. There was a hand written sign at the turn we didn’t see. We knew approximately how far the turn was from Uvita, and that if we were getting close to Ojochal we went too far. Thankfully a nice restaurant owner let us know we had gone about 1 mile too far. We turned around and easily found the road to the beach. It was a short drive to the beach, but the road was pretty bumpy and we had to drive through a small stream to get there.
We enjoyed walking along the beach and exploring around the caves. We found this beach to be quite serene. It is surrounded by mountains and palm trees. It was difficult to capture the beauty in a single picture.
We did take video footage of both of our visits to this area.
