Driving from Rincon to San Sebastian
We spent five days in Puerto Rico, three around Rincon and two around Luquillo. On our drive from Rincon to Luquillo we had planned to stop at Gozalandia for the afternoon. We had watched videos of others swinging on the rope swing and jumping off the waterfall -and hoped to do the same. We ended up spending several hours exploring around the waterfalls – and could have stayed longer.

Gozalandia was pretty easy to find. Google had us incorrectly turn right, just before going up a hill to the parking lot for the falls. Looking at the map it was easy for us to figure out that we had to go back and up the hill to find our destination. The parking was very reasonable at $5 and totally worth the experience.

Visiting the Waterfalls at Gozalandia
We passed the bar (best to save the mojitos for after jumping off of waterfalls) and headed straight to the paths to the falls. We chose to take the path to the right first – to the upper waterfall that is smaller and has a rope swing. The path was paved and did involve some stair climbing. It was so beautiful walking through the tropical path – shades of green everywhere.

It was quite slippery trying to enter the waterfall area from the path. Water shoes were beneficial.

We watched many others swing into the pool and climb around the waterfall. Richard “Jungleman” gave us several tips for swinging and jumping into the pool. Skylar and I both swung into the pool several times and climbed up and behind the waterfall.

Eventually we walked the trail back down to the steps that led to the lower, much larger waterfall. Reaching the lower waterfall required descending quite a few steep steps.

There we swam in the water, climbed around the waterfall and jumped into the pool from various heights. We also visited the (very) small underwater cave.

We could have spent all day at this natural beauty. It was fun watching others climb even further up the waterfall to make the higher jump.
Gozalandia started out pretty busy, but by the time we were getting ready to leave it cleared out. If you are willing to wait around you might catch a peaceful moment at this powerful waterfall.
After we tired ourselved out we had a delicious mojito at the bar/restaurant at the entrance to the falls. I have nothing but good memories of Gozalandia.

We did take quite a bit of video footage of our visit to Gozalandia below: (Skylar climbed further up on the waterfall and jumped in the video below!)
